NEW Graveyard Book Sketches

So in between finishing up contest requests and writing some stuff, I decided to update the designs for the Graveyard Book Characters

And now.... I will rant. (clears throat)
Mr. Neil Gaiman.... if you are out there on the internet searching things, and you happen to stumble upon this or my other old Graveyard Book drawings, I just want to say... you're the greatest author EVER, you've inspired me so much with your stories, and I would LOVE to make a graphic novel of The Graveyard Book.... or make an animated movie of it... but that's already being made (with real actors and what not). <XD But if you were thinking of making this a graphic novel, I'm your artist! It would be a dream come true!

I'm so poetic with inquiries... but in all seriousness, haha. If you guys haven't read the Graveyard Book, you should go read it. It's a wonderful story! And if readings not your thing, Mr. Gaiman himself will read it to you in an audio book (and his voice is so awesome to listen to).

About the designs: By all means, this is only MY artistic interpretation of the characters. Everyone imagines or pictures them differently (just like Mr. Riddell drew his own version of them, and like Mr. McKean inked his own version of them) And actually, after reading the Graveyard Book for the 6th time already, some of my designs don't match the description of one or two of the characters <XD
Like Miss Lupescu was "too young to have gray hair", that one flew right over my head, haha! But her dialogue reminded me of an old cranky Russian woman. So I drew her like that. And I am SICK SICK SICK and tired of the same drab looking werewolf design. Either they look like skinny dog rats or just a really huge wolf, so I said "Out the window with you!" and drew her Hound of God form more like a.... Schnauzer meets Borzoi XD

Silas..... the reason he looks the way he does is cause when I first read the book, I didn't know what he was. Call me silly, but the way he was described sometimes reminded me of a phantom or a shade, and only till the very end when they were sitting at the pizza parlor (drawing at the bottom there ) and he had no reflection I was like, "OOooooooooh... okay..." But I wanted to keep that sense of mystery about what he was in his design anyway. He also reminded me of Mr. Gaiman himself, so I made his hair look like his (not as curly though) AND ANOTHER THING! How do you pronounce his name? Is it.... SI-las (like Sith) or SIGH-las?
I also, FINALLY drew the Sleer! 8D I feel cursed just looking at it! I LOVED Chris Riddell's version of the Sleer (the three heads infused into one grizzly looking head), so I kept that in mind while drawing this, and added my own horrific flair to it. The antlers coming out of the eyes is very common in some Celtic Deities, so I added that onto it. And I always imagined it's back covered in Celtic crosses (which are very hard to draw my friends.... ugh)

Yikes, this description is getting to long I love this book way too much. I hope you enjoy though! More art coming soon, loveys. Now I'm going to look up Neil Gaiman book signings...
